There's more to these signs: read the full Toronto history.
A miniature replica of the historic Toronto acorn street sign at 1020 King Street West, in Parkdale. The original Rosco-manufactured signs of this type were a fixture of Toronto streets through much of the 20th century. Hand-finished with a clean white background, black frame, and embossed address. Mechanically solid, carefully finished, one of a kind.
King Street
King Street is one of the city’s oldest roads, named in 1793 in honour of King George III. It originally ran east-west through the early town, serving as a main commercial and transportation route along the southern edge of the settlement.
Over the centuries, King Street grew into a major artery lined with shops, theatres, and offices, becoming a hub of business and culture. Its evolution reflects Toronto’s transformation from a colonial town to a bustling modern city.
